Today was the famous Lilac Festival in Calgary.
We have never gone but we decided to see what was up.
We got there at 10:00 am because we heard it gets packed.
Was anyone left in Calgary in the burbs?
Nope, because THEY WERE ALL AT THE LILAC FESTIVAL.
It was packed but it was great!
TONS of vendors selling jewelry.
It was also geared to dog lovers.
My favorite vendor was "Eshururu" (www.eshururu.com) which sold gorgeous textiles handwoven in Ethiopia. The owner, Djaka Blais-Amare was so lovely.
I bought a blanket for my new grandbaby, arriving on the planet any minute.
It's soooooo soft and they get softer as you wash them. This is from her website:
"We're partnering with Freedom Tree to support vulnerable women and children in Africa. Freedom Tree works in Sierra Leone to reduce levels of maternal and infant mortality one community at a time. A portion of proceeds from every Eshururu product goes towards supporting Freedom Tree projects".
Honestly there was so much jewelry it was too overwhelming.
This was a nice display.

These people were cute.
They down came from Edmonton in their 1985 era RV.

The people watching was the best part!
This classy and sun sensible mom really rocked her bag, hat and sweet pink dress
while juggling a small child, a stroller and a plethora of balloons.
Admittedly she did look a bit glassy eyed though.

After a while the hoards got to be too much.
Was glad I didn't have a small child or a dog in tow.
Just a husband that kept getting lost.

There were a LOT of politicians. And dogs.
I liked it, but, I would go really early if I was going again.
I think I am good for a few years now!
